Baktisiswa Medsoc UM 2019
Baktisiswa is a non-profit event which is organized annually by the University of Malaya Medical Society (UM MEDSOC), primarily led by 2nd-year medical students in University of Malaya Medical Programme (UMMP) Cohort 2017/2022 from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.
The main objective of this project is to spread awareness among rural residents about the importance of personal responsibility in improving health. Besides, we hope to instill the spirit of volunteering among medical students.
Medical students play an imperative role in improving the standard of healthcare in the future. Thus, the spirit of volunteerism should be sown among medical students, so that they excel not only academically but also holistically. Baktisiswa serves as a platform for medical students to be directly involved in community services by carrying out some volunteering activities as an initiation of improving healthcare awareness among rural residents. Furthermore, Baktisiswa serves as the best opportunity for networking between medical students and the society, thus allowing medical students to establish the skills needed to build up a good doctor-patient rapport in the future.
For the past few years, Baktisiswa has successfully achieved the project objectives, benefitting both the rural residents and medical student involved. Therefore, we believe that this project will continue to bring upon boons to the society as well as the students.
ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS
1) Matriculation Students
2) A-levels Students
3) Asasi Students (Public Universities)
4) Foundation Students (Private Colleges and Unversities)
5) STPM Students
6) Any other Pre-U levels Students such as Australian Matriculation (AusMat), American Degree Transfer Programme (ADTP) and so on
7) Form 1 to Form 5 Students
